MOPMA - Pitch Music and Arts Festival
Gallery Concept and Design
Pitch Music & Arts is four aural days of music and contemporary art, situated in the forever-still Grampian plains. Annually held in march, the festival brings together a community of like-minded people for an indelible weekend.
In 2020 Pitch Music & Arts expanded their festival lineup to include an extensive arts programme and appointed creative producer, Grace Darling. Together, Grace and Emme developed a concept for a festival gallery like no other: A minimalist, clean space showcasing local and international contemporary artists. Bringing the idea of the white cube gallery, and placing it in the expansive Australian landscape - and of all places: a doof.
The design of the space itself is industrial and minimalist in aesthetic. Using shipping containers in a parallel layout provides interior and exterior exhibition spaces, and shelters visitors from harsh winds and dust. The title MOPMA (Museum of Pitch Music and Arts) is a nod to - piss take of - the big institutions such as MOMA (Museum of Modern Art). Emme was the first artist to exhibit in Pitch’s gallery space in 2020. However, MOPMA is intended to be re-used for many years to come - allowing new artists to reconfigure the space and present their unique work.
Crystal Landscape Exhibition
Crystal Landscape is the inaugural exhibition at Museum of Pitch Music & Arts (MOPMA), exploring crystalline formations over aluminium sculptures. Expect the curious and absurd: with mechanical self-destroying artworks, immersive digital-crystal caves, and delicate metal forms dripping with glistening geometric structures.
